Expenses remain incomplete for $3.8M loan, New York trip

Lauderdale County's total bill for expenses associated with a $3.8 million loan to pave and overlay county roads remains incomplete.
County Administrator Rex Hiatt said fees associated with the loan and bills for a trip county officials made to New York to visit a bond rating firm are expected to be ready later this week.
Lauderdale County spent about $4,200 in airfare, meals and parking when four supervisors and three non-elected county officials went to New York for a bond rating presentation in late March.
But Hiatt said the hotel bill and fees associated with the loan will be billed together by the county's bond attorney, Sam Keyes with Butler, Snow, O'Mara, Stevens &Cannada in Jackson.
Hiatt also said the county is waiting for a bill from Rick Barry, attorney for the board of supervisors.
About 150 county roads are designated for paving or overlaying during the next four years with the $3.8 million approved by supervisors as a 12-year, general obligation bond issue.
