Redd named chief nursing officer at Rush
Rush Foundation Hospital has appointed MaryLou Redd as chief nursing officer and will be responsible for nursing services at the hospital.
Redd holds a bachelor's degree in nursing from Wingate College and a master's in nursing administration from the University of South Carolina. She has more than 25 years of nursing experience and most recently served as chief nursing officer at Phoenix Baptist Hospital in Phoenix.
Redd and her husband, Frank, have recently relocated to Meridian.
EMSH names Jones employee of quarter
Ronald Jones has been named East Mississippi State Hospital's employee of the first quarter. He has been employed by the hospital since Aug. 6, 2001, and works as a direct care worker in the R.P. White Nursing Facility.
Jones' duties include taking care of the residents' personal needs, such as bathing, feeding and making sure they are neat and clean. He is described as a conscientious employee who takes pride in doing a good job. He is highly respected by residents and co-workers.
Jones was presented a $100 cash award provided by the East Mississippi State Hospital Friends Organization.
Independent Solid Waste Leaders establish association
Owners of privately owned and operated solid waste hauling companies and disposal sites from across the state met in Meridian this month and established Mississippi Independent Solid Waste Association.
Membership includes independent solid waste businesses throughout Mississippi from the Gulf Coast to the Tennessee state line and from the Mississippi River to the Alabama state line.
MISWA's mission is " to provide an appropriate venue for its membership to share ideas about solid waste issues, to obtain and maintain affordable group insurance for its membership, to apprise appropriate organizations of issues impacting or potentially impacting membership and to share the membership majority opinion on issues with said organizations, to share referral business and to provide educational programs on solid waste issues as appropriate."
Officers are Jim Brumfield from Southern Waste Disposal Inc. in Meridian, president; Wade Jones from Mississippi Industrial Waste Disposal in Columbus, vice-president; and Jimmie Moore from Southern Waste Disposal Inc. in Meridian, secretary-treasurer.
