Shane Parker fired a tournament-low 73 on Tuesday to take medalist honors and lead West Lauderdale to the District 5-3A golf championship at Forest Country Club.
The Knights finished with a 309 26 shots ahead of second-place Carthage, which finished with a 335.
West Lauderdale and Carthage both advanced to the state tournament on May 3-4, which will also be held at Forest Country Club.
Parker was one of three West Lauderdale golfers who broke 80. Ross McWilliams and Jarrod Moulds each shot 77, while Michael Burton finished with 82 and L.J. Robinson had an 84.
Newton County, led by Colby Amis' round of 79, finished in third place with a team score of 354.
Lee Parkerson led Choctaw Central with an 86, and the Warriors finished in fourth with a 364.
Forest was close behind with a 366. Zach Rushing had a team-high 84.
Southeast Lauderdale's 387 placed the Tigers in sixth, with Josh Johnson's 87 leading the way.
West Lauderdale's Parker, McWilliams, Moulds and Burton, Carthage's Long and Newton County's Amis comprised the All-District team.

Lamar 9
The Lamar School softball team fell 11-9 at Northeast Park on Tuesday night to Central Academy. The Lady Raiders drop to 11-5 overall for the season.
Lizzie Williams led Lamar at the plate with three hits, while Cheryl Luquire had two hits, including a home run for the Lady Raiders. S.M. Mitchell added two triples and two RBIs.
Jasmine Harris took the loss for the Lady Raiders, pitching seven innings.

East Rankin 3
Lamar took a six-run win on the road Monday over East Rankin. Cheryl Luquire led the way at the plate with three hits, including a double. Celia Covington had two hits, and Baleigh Barham had three singles.
Jasmine Harris pitched seven innings and allowed seven hits, while collecting two strikeouts to pick up the win.

Hillcrest Christian 9
Lamar 0
Lamar fell to 3-21 for the season with a shutout loss to Hillcrest Christian on Tuesday.
Josh Waters, Jeremiah Lovett and Travis Raley each hit singles for the Raiders in the final home game of the regular season.
Lamar concludes the season with a doubleheader against Hillcrest Christian at 4 p.m. Friday on the road.

Tri-County 3
Brooks Lewis and Mason Key belted a pair of homers each to lead the visiting Heidelberg Academy Rebels to a 17-3 first-round win in the MPSA Class A Playoffs on Tuesday afternoon.
HA returns home to host Tri-County at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the best-of-three series, with the if-necessary game to follow.
Lewis (7-0) was the winning pitcher for the Rebels, who are now 22-0 on the season.

ECCC 13-9
Holmes 3-3
The East Central Community College softball team picked up two wins over Holmes 13-3 and 9-3 on Tuesday.
In game one East Central pounded out 16 hits and scored nine early runs to take the 10-run win.
Shelly Ferguson led the way at the plate with a double and Marley Smith picked up the pitching win for East Central to improve to 10-5 for the season.
In game two the Lady Warriors amassed 13 hits to secure the sweep. Kristin Chaney led the way at the plate with two triples and Lauren Barrett was the winning pitcher to improve her record to 9-6 for the season.
East Central improved to 21-11 overall and 7-3 in the MACJC Central Division.

JUCO BASEBALL
Jones 6-12
Southwest 2-0
The Jones Junior College Bobcats swept the homestanding Southwest Community College Bears on Tuesday.
JCJC took the opener 6-2 and the nightcap 12-0 in five innings. The Bobcats end the season at 15-29 overall, 4-11 in the South Division.
In the opener, Ty Lawson (3-7) went 6.2 innings, scattering nine hits. Ryan Greer got the final out by a strikeout to post his second save.
Jason Ford and Jared Myrick each doubled and singled for Jones. Baker Ford and Elliott Burch each singled twice. Jeremy Perkins, Michael James, Johnny McDonald and Tim Hilton each singled.
In game two, Burch belted two home runs and tripled. Burch ends the season leading Jones in batting average at .344, home runs with five, RBIs with 35 and stolen bases with 12. Nathan Jack doubled and singled, while Michael James singled twice. Perkins and Justin Wade each doubled, with Jason Ford, Akeem Lofton and Myrick getting singles.
Joey Mooney, 6-4, went the distance, gave up two hits and fanned four.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL
UWA 9-15
W. Carey 2-0
HATTIESBURG The University of West Alabama softball team won two games over William Carey on Tuesday, taking game one 9-2 and game two by the score of 15-0.
Christen Chaney (5-14) picked up the win for the Tigers in game one, allowing two earned runs on seven hits in 7.0 innings pitched and striking out seven batters. Jessica Jacquay went 4-for-4 with two RBIs for UWA, while Jessica Gordon added two hits.
Tamara Neal went 1-for-3 with a triple and one RBI for West Alabama. Katie Breneman added a triple, while Haley Brown had one hit and two RBIs. Whitney Woodington went 1-for-1 with one RBI.
In game two, the Tigers outscored William Carey 15-0 for the five-inning victory. Heather Shugart (2-7) earned the win for UWA.
