Business was good in the opening round of the MACJC State/NJCAA Region 23 Women's Tennis Tournament at the Northeast Tennis Center Friday and it's about to pick up today.
Five teams will be vying for three berths in the NJCAA National Tournament at College Station, Texas, which begins the first of May.
After one day in the state/region tournament, Hinds led with 14 points. The Lady Eagles qualified for all nine events in today's semifinal play. No other team will have more than seven qualifiers for the semifinals.
Jones was second with 12 points. The Bobcats are qualified for five events today. Three teams were tied for third place with 10 points each.
