And the winner is…

Miss Meridian Community College 2003 Leanna McLaughlin, left, presents 23-year-old Kristen Isom with a bouquet of roses after Isom was named the winner of the 2004 Miss MCC Scholarship Pageant. Isom, a second-year student in the associate degree nursing program won the top award, a $600 cash scholarship. Isom plans to pursue a bachelor's degree in nursing. The pageant, which was held Tuesday in MCC's McCain Theater, spotlighted 15 co-eds. First runner-up Leslie Downing won a $400 scholarship; Leann Palmer, second runner-up, won a $300 scholarship; and Casey Hendricks, third runner-up, won a $200 scholarship. Other awards presented during the competition included Spirit of Miss MCC, which went to Pageant Phyllis Scott, and Scholastic Achievement, which also went to Hendricks.
