Area softball teams load up the buses

In one of the few home games for county softball teams entering this weekend, Clarkdale will entertain Enterprise in a battle between Lady Bulldogs.
Clarkdale, which is ranked 13th in the Jackson Clarion-Ledger poll, enters the contest riding a four-game winning streak. The team's last loss came on March 16 against Harrison Central.
Clarkdale (9-3) takes on Enterprise at 7 p.m. today. The Lady Bulldogs of Clarkdale than take to the road to participate in the Clinton Invitational on Saturday.
Meridian High School will also host one game before hitting the road for the weekend.
The Lady Wildcats (9-5) take on Brandon at 6 p.m. today for the first of three straight games in three days.
Meridian High will load up the bus for the rest of the weekend, as the Lady Wildcats travel to take on Newton County at 6 p.m. Friday and Enterprise at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Northeast Lauderdale will not compete on its home field this weekend. The Lady Trojans (6-6) have back-to-back road games on Friday and Saturday.
Northeast begins its weekend slate against Newton County at 6 p.m. Friday, and the Lady Trojans will take on New Hope at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Southeast Lauderdale will stay inside the county's borders for its first game heading into the weekend before leaving to play in the Carthage Tournament on Saturday.
The Lady Tigers (3-5) will journey across the county to take on West Lauderdale at 6 p.m. today. The Lady Knights (5-7) will be trying to break a three-game losing streak in the home contest.
West will have the weekend off after facing Southeast, and the team hits the road to take on Raleigh at 6 p.m. Monday.
Lamar School (1-0) will try to follow up its season-opening, 23-0 win over Laurel Christian with a pair of wins on the road.
The Lady Raiders travel to take on Heritage today, and they will venture to Waynesboro for a 5 p.m. game against Wayne Academy on Friday.
In junior college action, Meridian Community College follows it first win of the season, a 5-1 victory over Wallace-Hanceville, with a doubleheader against Shelton State.
The Lady Eagles (1-18) host Shelton State at Northeast Park at 1:30 p.m today. MCC will open division play at home against East Mississippi Community College at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
EMCC (5-9) will also warm up for division play with a home contest. The Lady Lions will meet Northwest Community College at 1 p.m. today in a doubleheader.
East Central Community College (6-6) will participate in the Northeast Community College softball tournament on Friday and Saturday.
