Wade Weathers struck out eight and allowed five scattered hits to lead the Enterprise High School Bulldogs to an 11-0 road victory over Clarkdale on Tuesday night in prep baseball action.
Enterprise improved to 10-3 overall and 5-1 in Division 7-2A, while Clarkdale dropped to 5-6 overall and 2-3 in the district.
After a scoreless first inning, Enterprise put seven runs on the board in the second as they sent 12 batters to the plate during the inning.
With the bases loaded, Adam Simpson singled in two runs and later scored from third base on a throwing error, making the score 3-0. Scott Moseley knocked in Corey Irby, making it 4-0, and then scored when Anthony Rawson got on base with an error for a 5-0 lead. Weathers then singled to bring in the final two runs of the inning, making the score 7-0.
Clarkdale sent Justin Mosley to the mound to replace starter Kurt Singley with two outs in the top of the second. Mosley finished the game for Clarkdale.
Chance Kidd doubled to score Adam Simpson in the top of the third, making the score 8-0 in favor of Enterprise. Simpson got on base with a double.
Enterprise then added two more runs in the fourth. Zeb Swain, who got on with a throwing error, scored while Weathers was thrown out at first. Meanwhile, Rawson doubled and scored on Lance Irby's RBI single.
Enterprise added one more run in the fifth, when Corey Irby walked, advanced to third and then scored while Clarkdale was turning a double play.
Clarkdale loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth with no outs, but David Riley was thrown out at the plate for one out, and Enterprise came up with two more outs to end the threat and the game on the 10-run rule.
Weathers improved his record to 7-0 on the season.
Both teams will be back in action on Friday. Clarkdale has a big division game with Taylorville, and Enterprise hosts Heidelberg.
