Meridian Fire Marshal Jeff Homan said today he believes fires that destroyed a house on 32nd Avenue and heavily damaged two others on 33rd Avenue were deliberately set.
The blazes that destroyed the 1705 32nd Ave. home and damaged the 1813 33rd Ave. home occurred around 1 a.m. today, Homan said.
The fire that damaged the 2017 33rd Ave. home occurred about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, he said.
Two structures adjacent to the 32nd Avenue home also were damaged by the fire. All of the homes were vacant, Homan said, and no people or firefighters were injured.
Homan said all three homes were fully engulfed by flames when firefighters arrived. He said firefighters and investigators do not know at this time if the fires were related.
