SALINA, Kan. Several players on the East Central Community College women's basketball team have family members and friends here to watch them play in the NJCAA Division I Women's National Championship Tournament.
Among them are Kristin Chaney's parents, grandmother, and older brother; Rita Birden's mother and younger brother; and Kotreece Bender's mother.
Lake girls' basketball coach Bill Ingersoll is here to watch a trio of former Lady Hornets Kimyatta Viverette, Roxana Rogers, and Kim Cox. Current ECCC men's basketball coach Bill Smith and his wife Susan are here as India Backstrom and Miranda Rosar played for them when they coached at Neshoba Central.
Others were unable to attend due to their jobs, the distance, or what have you. The Lady Warriors were asked if they could have someone here to watch them that was unable to come, who would it be and why. These are some of their responses.
