Meridian Community College's board of trustees discussed a truck driver training program during a regular board meeting on Tuesday.
Shirley Nell Goodman, associate vice president for workforce education, told the board that the eight-week course would begin no later than August, when regular classes begin at MCC.
MCC President Scott Elliott said the school is in the process of hiring an instructor for the course. He also said the program is looking for private funding from the community to support the cost of the program. Elliott did not say exactly how much it would cost to run the program and the board took no action on the matter.
In other business, the board accepted the resignations of math instructors Judith Burkes and Shywanda Moore. Burkes is planning to retire and Moore is moving to Tuscaloosa.
