Lady Tigers continue to grow on field

By By Tony Krausz / assistant sports editor
Dec. 4, 2003
The Southeast Lauderdale girls soccer team took its fair share of bumps and bruises in the program's first year of existence last season.
The Lady Tigers posted a 2-5 record, as many of the players experienced their first games on the soccer pitch.
To the team's credit, except for the three seniors that graduate, most of the squad returned in tact for the 2003-04 season.
Southeast returns Lindsey Raines, Madison Davis, Kelly Lewis, Brittany Harper, Rachel Rutledge, Brittany Butler, Veronica Mareno, Hannah Shirley and Lindsey Graham from last year's team.
The Lady Tigers are still learning the finer points of the game, as the squad has gotten off to a 1-2-1 start this season.
But Rahaim said the lessons of last year are evident.
Southeast has picked up a 4-1 win over Wayne County this season, and the Lady Tigers earned a tie against Clarkdale in the Lauderdale County tournament last week at Northeast Park.
The Lady Tigers are taking baby steps in their second year, but the team could be ready to run with anybody very soon.
