Local standouts named to All-Star game

Nine area athletes, including three each from Class AAA Division 2 state champion Lamar School and Class A state champion Heidelberg Academy, have been chosen for Friday's MPSA All-Star Football Game.
The annual contest will be played at Mississippi College's Robinson-Hale Stadium in Clinton. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. Pre-game ceremonies will begin at 5:45 p.m.
Representing the 11-2 Raiders of Lamar are quarterback Drew Moffett and linemen Roland Terry and Vaughn Waters. They will play on the South team.
The remaining area players will be playing for the North team.
Chosen from 12-2 Heidelberg Academy are quarterback Brooks Lewis, running back Brent Welch, and lineman/kicker Mason Key.
Also on the North squad are running backs Jeffery Chancellor of Leake Academy, Cody Phillips of Sylva-Bay Academy, and Garet James of Wayne Academy.
South coaches are David King (head) of Class A state state runner-up Trinity Episcopal Day School, Billy Wayne Hankins of Class AA state champion Simpson Academy, Keith Walters of Adams County Christian School, and Doug Hoehn of Hillcrest Christian School.
North coaches are Lance Prine (head) of Briarfield Academy and assistants Herbert Davis of Class AA state runner-up Heritage Academy, Kyle Finney of Lee Academy, and Joey Hawkins of Class AAA Division 1 state champion Jackson Academy.
North players include David Traxler, Sean Harrison, and Will Johnson of Jackson Academy; Phillip Harrison, Jim Owen, and Gill Lucas of Class AAA Division 2 state runner-up MRA; and Conner Wise of Heritage.
South players include Ivan Nastally, Walt Ketchings, Gregory Ketchings, and Dudley Guice of Trinity Episcopal; Ken Garner and Neal Lewis of Simpson; and Robert Biedenharn, Abe Kidder, Chase Thompson, and Joseph Queen of Class AAA Division 1 state runner-up Jackson Prep.
