A boil water alert has been issued for some customers who get their drinking water from the Beulah Hubbard Water Association in Newton County, according to the Mississippi State Department of Health. The alert applies to customers whose water supply is fed from Pleasant Grove Church.
Water system officials notified the health department on Wednesday that the system lost pressure due to repairs from construction.
A health department spokesman said water to be consumed should be boiled for at least one minute. Bringing water to a rolling boil for one minute will destroy all major types of harmful bacteria.
Beulah Hubbard Water Association customers will be notified when health department tests show that the water is safe to drink.
