LabCorp, a medical laboratory on 22nd Avenue in Meridian that does patient services and testing, is scaling back its operation.
The company, Laboratory Corporation of America, is based in Burlington, N.C. It laid off about 30 employees in Meridian on Thursday and Friday, according to Pam Sherry, a senior vice president of the company.
Sherry said the lab operates 24 hours a day, but company officials are in the process of converting it to a daytime testing facility. She said 110 people are still employed locally.
Laboratory Corporation of America had annual revenues of $2.5 billion in 2002. It employs more than 24,000 people nationwide, and has more than 200,000 clients. LabCorp clients typically include physicians, government agencies, managed care organizations, hospitals, clinical labs, and pharmaceutical companies.
