Pair of perfect games rolled

After several close calls in previous weeks, two local bowlers finally answered the bell and got their names in lights by cranking out perfect games during action last week. The first to step to the plate was Bill Fike, who the week before fell just short with a nine-in-a-row effort. The second time was the charm though as Bill drove all 12 into the pocket to card the season's fourth 300 game. His effort was also good enough to help him capture the high series for the week with a nice 766.
The smoke had barely cleared by Friday night when the Ball &Chain league took to the lanes, and it became Albert Edmonds' turn to shine. After a slow start the first two games, Albert found a groove and hung in to record his first career 300 game. Congratulations go out to both of these guys for their achievements, and we wish you both many more in the future.
In other action last week, Mike Cothern continued to stay hot by cranking out a 290 game and a 745 series while Rodney Bounds used a 267 to reach to the stars and pluck a 755 out of the sky. Tim Van Doren strutted his stuff in the Wednesday Night Mixed league where one mistake cost him a chance to punch out the lights. He tallied a 279 game in the process and finished the evening with a 761 set. Robby Relinski used a 276 to salvage an otherwise forgettable evening. Also getting in on the action were Herb Bruister with a 723 and Greg Taylor who came in with a 268/713 effort. Mel Cacapit bagged a 267 game and Stephen Walker set a new career high game with a 265 while Ronnie Thomas kept it between the ditches and blasted out a 269.
The race for high series for the ladies was a close on but Shirley Gaines came out the winner by a couple of pins and claimed the high game for the week in the process. Her 246/623 was just enough to squeak by Rhonda Covington's 621 and Mary Copeland's 620. Barbara Holden cranked out a nice 244 game, Cathy Jones landed a 234 and Lillie Hudson showed the Monday Nighters league how it's done with a 223.
Congratulations go out to junior bowler Colton Dooley who blasted out his highest game ever with a very nice 250 game and a 605 series in the Wednesday Fun Time league. Josh Coleman continued to improve by leaps and bounds, blasting out a 223/648 on Saturday morning and cranking out a 214/602 on Wednesday. Steven Carson checked in with a 214 and Matthew Alawine showed out with a 211. Randi Allen was walking tall after leading girls with a nice 200 game Saturday.
I hope you had the opportunity to take part in the Scotch Doubles tournament this past weekend. As always, this YABA0 fund raiser was a lot of fun to participate in. I hope to have complete results for you next week.
Parents, please don't forget the YABA City Tournament will be held December 6 &7 at Dixie Bowl Lanes. We hope you will encourage your child to take part in this annual tournament and save some space on your calendar for them to do so. Singles and Doubles events will bowl at 10 a.m. Saturday and the Team event will take place Sunday at 2 p.m. A pizza party and trophy presentation will take place immediately following the team bowling. The entry fee is only $25 and covers all three events.
