Bond had not been set Monday for two Mexican men who were found with 255 pounds of marijuana in their pickup truck when stopped last week on Interstate 20 by Meridian police officers.
Detective Dean Harper, a spokesman for the Meridian Police Department, said Jose Alberta Ramos, 46, and Juan Miquel Perez, 55, were take into custody by U.S. Drug Enforcement agents.
Both men were described as Mexican nationals living in Roma, Texas. Harper said an MPD officer stopped the men, who were in a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup truck, for careless driving on Friday. The officer found the marijuana, with an estimated street value of $309,000, concealed behind a seat.
