50th anniversary
Oscar and Duchess Burt were married Oct. 11, 1953, in Quitman. They recently celebrated their 50th anniversary with family and friends on a trip to Gulf Shores, Ala. Their children are Von Burt and his wife, Cindy, of Meridian, and Keith Burt of Birmingham, Ala. Their grandchildren are Adam, Lon and Ivey Burt.

Don and Rose Wade were married Nov. 6, 1953. Their children are Donna and Roger Key of Meridian and Kathi and Bill Hofer of Oak Harbor, Wash. Their grandchildren are Lacy and Lindsey Key and Chris and Brandon Hofer. On Nov. 1, 2003, they will celebrate their 50th anniversary by renewing their vows at the Episcopal Church of the Mediator at 5 p.m., with a reception to follow in the church parish hall. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Edward Lee Davis and Vallonia Stennis were married on Oct. 4, 1953. The Stennis and Davis families gave them a 50th anniversary celebration reception on Oct. 4, 2003, at the Council of Organizations building. Edward and Vallonia have one daughter, Vanessa Davis Alford, and her husband, Leroy; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. They have many godchildren, nieces and nephews. They also enjoyed raising their oldest great-grandson, De'Untee Lee. They are members of Pilgrim Hill United Methodist Church. Ed is retired from Coca-Cola and CC Coin Catering Co. Vallonia is retired from Meridian public schools and is now working with the foster grandparent program. They also own Davis Catering.
