Robersons square off in playoffs

World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. won't have anything on MHSAA slow-pitch softball when Enterprise hosts Clarkdale for the Class 2A South State championship Tuesday night.
Much like Sunday's I Quit match between WWE owner Vince McMahon and his daughter Stephanie, the Clarkdale-Enterprise series has father Rick Roberson and his Clarkdale girls taking on his oldest daughter Kacie and her
Enterprise squad.
Rick has an added advantage in that his youngest daughter, Robbi, is one of his assistants at Clarkdale, along with veteran Britt Bennett.
That leaves wife/mom Lynn Roberson in both a no-win, can't-lose predicament.
Clarkdale swept Enterprise during the regular season, taking a 12-2 win at Clarkdale on Oct. 7. Enterprise entered the playoffs with an 11-13 mark, but has raised its record to 17-14 after sweeping Mercy Cross of Biloxi 5-4, 10-5 Saturday at Enterprise.
Clarkdale rallied from a one-game deficit to knock off Philadelphia in its Saturday series. The Lady Tornadoes took a 13-10 win in the opener before Clarkdale stormed back to take 21-6 and 11-1 wins.
For the record, Vince McMahon won the I Quit match at No Mercy.
Other South State pairings have West Lauderdale, 31-5, traveling to Poplarville, 20-11, for a 4 p.m. series in Class 3A and Union, 23-10, hosting West Lincoln, 28-9, in Class 1A. The Union-West Lincoln starting time will be decided today.
West knocked off Newton County in the quarterfinal round, winning 20-12 and 11-8 after dropping the opener 13-8.
Poplarville played in the Rush/MCC Invitational Tournament at Sammie Davidson Complex on Sept. 27 and didn't win a game, losing 9-2 to Newton County, 4-1 to Neshoba Central, 16-1 to New Hope, and 14-13 to Enterprise.
The Lady Hornets swept North Pike 7-5, 12-5 Saturday.
In Class 1A, Union and West Lincoln meet in a rematch of last year's 1A South State finals which Union won 12-3, 7-3.
Union had 30 hits in the sweep, prompting West Lincoln coach Andrew Redd to say, "Union hit the ball better than anybody I have ever seen in my life."
While hitting hasn't been a major problem for the Lady Jackets, fielding has been at times. After beating Sebastopol 10-0 in the first game Saturday, the Lady Jackets committed nine errors in the second game as the Lady Bobcats evened the series with an 11-4 win. Union took the rubber game 7-1.
West Lincoln needed three games to get past Bogue Chitto. The Lady Bears took the opener 9-0, lost the second game 7-6, and won the third game 6-2.
