New Hornets' contributions being felt

NEW ORLEANS Some brand new members of the New Orleans Hornets are already making big impacts, and it's still only the preseason.
Free agent center acquisition Sean Rooks' putback of a Baron Davis miss as time expired lifted the Hornets to an 87-85 win over the Washington Wizards in their second and final home preseason game in front of a scattered crowd but boisterous crowd in the New Orleans Arena Saturday night. Rooks finished with 12 points and David Wesley paced the Hornets with 16 points.
Thanking the crowd
The team continued its preseason trend of addressing the crowd before the game. Thursday night forward P.J. Brown did the honors, but this time it was head coach Tim Floyd. The Hattiesburg native promised his charges would work hard this season.
Quick contributors
In both of their preseason home games, the team has gotten big chip-in efforts from their two offseason free agent acquisitions. Rooks and Darrell Armstrong continue to come up big. Thursday night, Armstrong poured in 15 off the bench and against the Wizards, he had eight and five assists.
Circus Shot
There were several, but an up and under scoop from Baron Davis provided the oohs and ahhs from the crowd. With less than two minutes remaining in the first half, Davis tossed in the bucket, despite being driven to the floor by Wizards' forward Kwame Brown.
