The Specialty Hospital expects large crowd at health fair

The Specialty Hospital of Meridian will host the 3rd Annual Senior Safety and Community Health Fair from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday.
The event is open to the public and will feature free health screenings, information on available community services and safety recommendations with an emphasis on the elderly.
Blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, hearing and non-invasive oxygen-level screenings will be available as well as other tests.
Safety recommendations covered will include ways to prevent people from falling and the proper use of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Various community agencies will have information available about services for the elderly.
According to Libby Mitchell, vice president of The Specialty Hospital of Meridian, more than 500 people attended last year's health fair and as many are expected this year.
