Cynthia H. Luther recently received a doctor of science in nursing degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Luther is a faculty member at the University of Southern Mississippi School of Nursing on the Mississippi State University-Meridian Campus. She is also an adult nurse practitioner at Rush Senior Health Center.
Luther's degree was conferred following her dissertation, "Health Promotion Behaviors of Women at Risk for Osteoporosis." A graduate of Matty Hersee School of Nursing, Luther previously earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in nursing from USM and a post-master's certificate as nurse practitioner from the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Luther is married to Jerald Luther. They have three children, Jennifer, Katie and Charlie, and one grandchild, Allison. Luther is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hardy. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee Kirkland of Philadelphia and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Hardy of House.
Enjoli N. Jeffries recently received a bachelor's degree in computer science from Mississippi Valley State University.
Jonathan Woodall, a student at Lamar High School, was recently selected to attended the 2003 Congressional Student Leadership Conference in Silver Springs, Md. The conference is an invitational leadership program for the most academically talented and promising young leaders.
Exceptional high school students like Woodall, who have a record of academic achievement and extracurricular or community involvement, are invited to participate.
Bradley Black of Meridian recently received recognition from the Rural Medical Scholars program counselors Ashley Harris and Sara Sullivan.
Black was among 11 students enrolled in the five week summer program who encouraged high school students to pursue medical careers in rural areas of the state.
Mississippi State University's Extension Service directed the five-week program, which is a project of the Rural Health Corps a joint effort of MSU's Extension Service and the state's 15 community and junior colleges.
Meridian Community College sponsored Black for the program.
The Beta Mu chapter of Delta Delta Delta recently welcomed Meredith Paige LaBruyere as a new member. Meredith is the daughter of Ken and Dixie LaBruyere and is attending Mississippi State University majoring in pre-pharmacy.
Peter A. Davidson of Meridian recently joined the freshman class of Wabash College. He also recently pledged Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. Davidson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Davidson of Meridian.
