    Retired construction carpenter
    BUTLER, Ala. Services for Woodrow Wilson Hallford will be held today at 2 p.m. at Gilbertown Church of God with the Revs. Fred Wiley and Doug Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Brightwater Cemetery. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Hallford, 85, of Toxey, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, in Toxey.
    Survivors include his wife of more than 60 years, Norma Jean Hallford of Toxey; daughters, Betty Jackson and her husband, Sheridan, and Brenda Carlisle, all of Gilbertown; a son, Larry Hallford and his wife, Kathy, of Gilbertown; brothers, Otis Hallford of Atlanta, Moses Hallford of Mobile and Jr. Hallford of Red Level; sisters, Bessie Reynolds of Mobile, Bertie Mae Spears of Atlanta and Virginia Norwood of San Antonio; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara and an infant great-granddaughter.
    Services for Leola Knight will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jackie Moulder officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery.
    Mrs. Knight, 82, of Collinsville, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, in her home.
    Survivors include her sons, Perry Knight of Union and Terrell Knight of Collinsville; a daughter, Patricia Chadwick of Seattle; nine grandchildren; sisters, Della McAllister and Janie Dufour and a brother, George Belvin.
    Pallbearers will be Billy Knight, Jimmy Knight, Alan Knight, Tim Johnson, Matthew Glass and Robert Strickland.
    Homemaker
    Services for Jo Massey will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Demascus Free Will Baptist Church with the Revs. Hollis Warren and Johnny James officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Massey, 54, of the Damascus Community died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003 in Lauderdale County. She was a member of the Damascus Free Will Baptist Church, where she was a song leader and she was very active in her community.
    Survivors include her husband, Robert O'Dell "Dick" Massey of Damascus; three daughters, Kirstie Miles and her husband, Kevin, of the Shucktown Community, Rita Thomas and her husband, John and Robin Briggs and her husband, Tony, all of Damascus; a granddaughter, Marissa Jo Thomas; three brothers, John Thompson and his wife, Jackie of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Paul Thompson and his wife, Margie and Tony Thompson and his wife, Jimmie, all of Louisville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Code and Pauline Thompson; her mother-in-law, Syble McKee Massey, and two sisters, Kay Haffs and Shirley McMillan.
    Pallbearers will be Theron Smith, Brian Smith, Bill McMillan, Robert Gibson, Billy Stovall, Rachel Miles, Glenice Briggs and Robert Thomas.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church on Sunday.
    Retired self employed truck driver
    Services for Hubert L. Leach will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jack Giles and Jason Gross officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery.
    Mr. Leach, 67, of Meridian, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
    Survivors include his wife, Velinda K. Leach of Meridian; a son, Hubert Leach Jr. of Meridian; sisters, Bonnie Massey of Collinsville and Christine Knight of Meridian; two granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Ruby Leach.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    NEWTON Services for John J.W. Watson Shepherd will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Harold Bethune officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
    Mr. Shepherd, 84, of Newton died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003 at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was a retired Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and he served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Presbyterian Church.
    Survivors include two sisters, Lois Sanderford, of Meridian and Tennie Aycock, of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, William B. and Lottie Walker Shepherd; a brother, Willie Shepherd Jr.; seven sisters, Caroline Shepherd, Virgie Walker, Lillie Shepherd, Lottie Ruth Wayne, Patsy Bolton, Mae Aycock and Mildred Aycock.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Graveside services for Jessie Bridges will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hickory Grove Church Cemetery with the Rev. Sephus Garrett officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Bridges, 39, of Meridian died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003 at Heartfelt Hospice.
    Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
    Waitress
    Services for Joyce Mae Smith will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Silas B. Herrington Chapel with Revs. Carter and Whittington officiating. Burial will be in Cedarhaven Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Smith, 72, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
    Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Childress and Debra Ann Smith of Gautier; a son, David Smith Jr. of Texas; sisters, Myra Spooner and Betty McFaden of Fairfield, Calif. and Rita Olier of Biloxi; brothers, Brent Spooner and Warren Spooner, both of Waynesboro and Bobby Spooner of Meridian.
    Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
    Arrangements were incomplete at James F. Webb Funeral home for Bobby Rose, 81, of Enterprise who died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
