Jobless rate climbs

News from the unemployment front last week was not good. In the past 16 months, Mississippi has recorded a net loss of more than 9,000 jobs.
The next time you hear Gov. Ronnie Musgrove talk about his achievements in economic development perhaps you should keep this statistic in mind. As we have suggested before, if Musgrove wants credit for what he says he's done, he should also accept the responsibility for the fact that Mississippi's jobless rate today is the highest in 16 months, and he was governor for every single one of them.
So much for his 1999 claim that he would lead Mississippi to new heights of progress and prosperity.
