Riley Hospital names new chief operating officer

Eric Barber is the new chief operating officer of Riley Hospital.
Barber is the former assistant administrator of Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville, S.C., which is owned by the same company that owns Riley, Health Management Associates in Naples, Florida.
HMA owns 44 hospitals in 12 states.
A native of Garden City, Kan., Barber holds a master's degree in health services administration from the University of Kansas and a bachelor's degree in life sciences from Kansas State University.
He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is associated with the Kiwanis Club and the Jaycees.
Barber replaces former COO Doug Arnold, who left in May to become chief executive officer of HMA-owned Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale.
