Riley Hospital sponsors health
fair for babies and children

Riley Hospital will host a health fair Saturday to help children and parents prepare for the start of a new school year.
The 6th Annual Riley Bear Health Fair for Babies and Children will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Bonita Lakes Mall. Activities will be in the mall's Center Court.
Glenda Sanders, marketing director of Riley Hospital, said the fair will offer important information for parents about the health and safety of their children.
Participants in this year's health fair include the Meridian Police Department, Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, Meridian Speech and Hearing, Riley WomanCare Birth Place, Mississippi Department of Health Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Weems Community Mental Health Center's Children and Youth Division, Ross Pediatrics, Riley Children's Therapy Center, Riley Emergency Department, Greater Meridian Health Clinic WIC Services, Partnership for a Healthy Lauderdale County, Mississippi Department of Health's First Steps program, Girl Scouts of Gulf Pines Council, Mississippi Department of Health WIC program, Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency, Mitchell Distributing/Budweiser, Metro Ambulance, Greater Meridian Health Clinic, Riley Community Education and Mississippi State Division of Medicaid.

Fun events have been scheduled as well, including appearances by Chuckles the Clown, Kricket the Clown and the Geoffrey's toy store mascot.
There will also be face painting, giveaways and door prizes. In a separate event, Bonita Lakes Mall will sponsor "Little Tikes Toddler Games" from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. in the J.C. Penney court area.
