Busler's Sunflowers' finds home in Brandon library

Charlie Busler's paintings are inspired by his surroundings.
Busler's current artwork was featured at a show in March at Southern Breeze Gallery in Jackson. A few of his works remain on display there except for "Sunflowers," a 4 foot-by-4 foot oil painting on canvas.
Busler has just been notified that "Sunflowers" was selected by a committee and the mayor of Brandon to hang in the newly constructed Brandon Public Library.
Southern Breeze Gallery owner Glenn Sanford is also pleased to have his client's work chosen to hang in the library.
A self-described "non-academic," Busler, 53, was largely self-taught and began painting fairly late in life just 15 years ago. In addition to oils and acrylics, Busler creates collages and mixed-media pieces.
Busler said the collection of 12 paintings that were on display at Southern Breeze Gallery have their own personality. "Sunflowers" was one his favorites.

Charlie Busler will open a show of his work in September at K. Fulton Art &Frame in downtown Meridian. In addition to his oil paintings, the show also will feature hand-painted ceramics.
The show will open Sept. 22; an opening reception is set for Sept. 25 from 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m. The gallery is at 2000 Front St. Call 693-0024. To view Busler's work at Southern Breeze Gallery go to www.southernbreeze.net.
