All-Star tennis has Newton Co. flavor

For the second year in a row, Newton County has three players chosen to participate in the Mississippi Association of Coaches All-Star Tennis Tournament.
The eighth-annual event is set for Thursday at 1 p.m. at Parham Bridges Tennis Center in Jackson. Admission to the matches is free.
Representing the Newton County tennis program, coached by Chad Bond, are Valerie Gibbs, Britley Kimbriel, and Mylan Anderson. They will be playing on the South roster.
Kimbriel and Anderson have both signed with Meridian Community College.
Anderson won Class 3A boys singles state championships in 2002 and 2003.
Also on the South team are Phillip Johnson of Quitman, Drew Smith of Madison Central, Stuart Misner, Judson Langston, Lane Lofton, and Sadie Corban of Brookhaven; Kristan Preble of Northwest Rankin, and Katie Joyner of Brandon.
South coaches are Terri Garren of Madison Central and Craig Winship of West Jones.
On the North roster are Jessica Rogers, Anna Claire Wood, and Matt Whiteside, all of Pontotoc; Allison Derrick of Kosciusko, Carolyn Eley of Cleveland, Kory Rogers and Scott Duncan of Tupelo, Shelly Sharma and Evan Sanford of Starkville, Christian Albarracin of Corinth, Carr Chadwick of Oxford, and Brandon Harris of Shannon.
Coaches for the North team are Kelly Stimpson of Tupelo and Memorie Naron of Cleveland.
