The Meridian Police Department reported the following violations as a result of safety check points manned July 3-14, according to Capt. Tommy Miller, patrol division daywatch commander:
DUIs 41
Seat belt violations 33
Child restraint violations 16
Total felony arrests 19
Driving with suspended license 32
No vehicle liability insurance 74
Speeding 121
Reckless or careless driving 15
Drug arrests (including at least two felonies) 26

Miller said the department concentrated on DUI offenses early this month to coincide with a national campaign against drunk driving called, "You Drink, You Drive, You Lose."
Miller said the department is planning another safety check point campaign during the next major holiday season.
