How to sign up for no-call' list

By Staff
July 4, 2003
Now that there's a law that says telemarketers can't call your home if you're on a "no-call" list, many people are wondering how to register.
Joining the national registry guarantees a spot on the state list because Mississippi will automatically pull the telephone numbers of its residents from the Federal Trade Commission's list.
The national registry also allows consumers to register both their home and cell phone numbers whereas Mississippi currently is only registering land-based home phone numbers.
Consumers can get on the national list by logging onto www.donotcall.gov. or calling a toll-free number, (888)382-1222. To get onto the state list, log onto www.psc.state.ms.us. or call (866) 622-5567.
People who sign up for the "no call" list by the end of August will be included in the first no-call registry that telemarketers must abide by beginning Oct. 1.
