WASHINGTON Sens. Thad Cochran and Trent Lott, and U.S. Rep. Chip Pickering have announced an $800,000 Rural Development loan for the city of Newton for water improvements and waste disposal purposes.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development funds will be used to construct an elevated water tank for an industrial park, an aerator at the water treatment plant and loop lines to provide service to annexed areas.
This will provide service to residential areas that do not have proper sewage collection and treatment.
