John and Jennifer Thrash have been married for one year, one month and 10 days but for most of that time, they have lived separately.
The two Lauderdale County natives spent Friday at the home of Jennifer's parents near Okatibbee Lake, four days after John returned from a four-month tour in Iraq as a sergeant with the Marines.
Jennifer and John, who now live in North Carolina, flew back to Mississippi for a brief reunion with family and friends their first trip home since before the war in Iraq began early this year.
Jennifer and John, both 26, sat side-by-side on a couch in her parents' living room. As John recalled his time in Iraq, Jennifer's face showed signs of both relief and excitement.
