David and Corey Roberts win the Take a Kid Bass Tournament

The team of David and Corey Roberts took first place in the Take A Kid Bass tourney held recently at Okatibbee Reservoir. Their winning creel weight of 7.61 pounds of bass was good enough to win the jackpot prize of $1,000.00. They had a limit of seven bass.
Second place and $650.00 went to the team of Wayman Newell and Austin Weekley with a five bass string weighing 7.42 pounds, the pair finishing just percentage points out of first. Third place went to the team of Tommy and Corey Rigdon with a seven fish limit weighing 6.90 pounds, good for $500.00. Fourth place and $400.00 went to the team of Clyde and Trey Coker with seven fish weighing 6.76 pounds.
Rounding out the top five was Mike Wall and Parker Temple with a seven fish limit weighing 6.60 pounds. Fifth place was good enough for $325.00.
Tommy Rigdon won the adult lunker prize of $370.00 with a 3.06 pound spotted bass. Bilbo Lampton won first prize and $200.00 in the youth division with a 3.31 pound bass. Austin Weekley also caught a nice 2.78 pound bass which was good enough for second place and $100.00.
This second annual tournament was a success once again due to the work of the Meridian Firefighters Local #52 members and local sponsors. There was food for all participants including hot dogs and hamburgers as well as drinks. All participants won trophies and "Take- A – Kid" shirts regardless of their finish.
Facing an almost record high water level for this time of year, 40 boats came out and participated. The bass even cooperated on this sunny day with a lot of smaller fish as well as a good many spotted bass being caught.

15. Roberts and Satcher $70.00
