    JACKSON Services for Dr. Allen David Bishop Jr. were to be held today at 10 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church. Burial was to be in Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Dr. Bishop, 64, of Jackson, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. He was born Sept. 5, 1938, and attended Meridian Junior College and Millsaps College.
    He completed his master's and Ph.D. degrees at Louisiana State University and the University of Houston. He has lived in Jackson since 1967 and was professor emeritus of chemistry at Millsaps College, having taught for more than 35 years.
    His many accomplishments include, Distinguished Professor of the Year award at Millsaps College, Outstanding Methodist Award for Higher Education and Outstanding Educator Award of the Mississippi Section of the American Chemical Society for the year 2000.
    He was very involved in establishing the use of computing on the Millsaps campus and served as director of academic computing until his retirement. He was instrumental in the organization of the computer studies department.
    He served in the National Guard in Mississippi and Louisiana and was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Julia of Jackson; a daughter, Marie Whitt and her husband, Kevin, of Birmingham, Ala.; a son, Allen David Bishop III and his wife, Megan, of Meridian; two grandchildren, Annie Marie Whitt and Allen David Bishop IV; an aunt, Mary Alice Braswell of Meridian; and an uncle, John Bishop of Knoxville, Tenn.

    PHILADELPHIA Services for Elna Maye Henley will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Revs. Robin Risher and Bobby J. Henley officiating. Burial will be in Neshoba Cemetery.
    Mrs. Henley, 97, of Clinton, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
    Survivors include her daughter, Doris Henley Murphy of Clinton; sons, J. Paul Henley of Jackson and the Rev. Bobby J. Henley of Philadelphia; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Kate Gardner of Union.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin B. Henley.

    QUITMAN Services for Ernest Benton Goodman Sr. will be held today at 2 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with the Revs. Jimmy Sanders and Chris Winkleman officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery in Meridian. Wright's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Goodman, 87, of Meridian, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, in his home.
    Survivors include his wife, Lucille Goodman of Meridian; sons, Ernest Goodman Jr. of Vernon, Ala., Granvell Goodman and Unred Goodman, both of Meridian; daughters, Kay Shipe of Lovettsville, Va., and Karen Davis of Brassfield; a sister, Marie Vick of DeKalb; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
    Correctional facility employee
    SEBASTOPOL Services for Timothy Wayne Boles will be held today at 2 p.m. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Matt Clark and Bill Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Damascus Cemetery in Scott County.
    Mr. Boles, 48, of Walnut Grove, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, in Leake County.
    Survivors include his wife, Linda Boles of Walnut Grove; his mother, Estell Boles of Hebron; sisters, Mildred Newsom of Hebron and Gloria Kessinger of Huntsville, Ala.; and a brother, J.C. Boles of Sherman, Texas.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Boles.
    Retired farmer and cattleman
    MACON Services for Ernest "Bo" Minor will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. D.R. Ragsdale and Glenn Miller officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery. Cockrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Minor, 85, of Macon, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, in his home. He served in the U.S. Army Field Auxiliary during World War II, the Pacific Theatre of Operations and served in Japan during the surrender of Japan.
    Survivors include his daughter, Madelyn H. Canaday of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, Ernest N. Minor Jr. of Macon; one grandson; sisters, Helen Minor Moore of Corinth and Ruth Minor Brown of Wynettka, Ill.; and a brother, Lucian S. Minor of Memphis, Tenn.
    Memorials may be made to Central Academy or First United Methodist Church.
    Services for Odessa Howard will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel.
    Mrs. Howard, 83, of Russell, died Monday, June 23, 2003, in her home.
    Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Retired
    PHILADELPHIA Services for Mavis Ming will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Brenda Snedden officiating. Burial will be in Mars Hill Cemetery in Winston County.
    Mrs. Ming, 84, of Pearl, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. She was retired from Whitfield State Hospital as a social worker.
    Survivors include her husband, Freddie Ming of Pearl; and a sister, Sybil Ray of Louisville.
    Visitation will be today 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
