Good time in the water at Games

In one of the more unusual sports in the State Games of Mississippi, commissioner of Wakeboarding and Waterskiing Jack Middleton hopes for a good turnout this year.
The Event will be held Saturday beginning at 10 a.m., at Dream Lake, a lake Middleton built for waterskiing and wakeboarding purposes. Dream lake is located off Chandler Road on Highway 19 North.
Wakeboarding makes its second appearance in the State Games this year. Participants will be scored on trick difficulty and how well that trick is carried out.
Participants in the waterski portion will ski a slalom course, in which the competitor uses only one waterski and is scored on how many times they make turns on the shortest line.
Middleton said that a new boat will be in use this year, a combination waterski and wakeboard boat donated by Malibu Boats in California.
There will be four divisions, dividing age groups and ability. Middleton said that most everyone who participated in last year's event won a medal.
