Sitting inside the Cove's Nest Marina restaurant, you can munch on a tasty meal while enjoying the relaxing sounds of boats bumping against the dock.
The restaurant, under new management, has new hours of operation. Roy Tindell and his wife, Rosa, are open from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on Sunday.
Tindell lives in Heidelberg and commutes to Meridian on a daily basis to work at the marina owned by Joe Killebrew.
Seasonal business
The restaurant's specialties are ribs, chicken and sausage cooked on a huge metal outdoor smoker Tindell calls the "Rolling Smoke Stack."
Hungry patrons can also enjoy roast beef sandwiches with Tindell's special sauce, hamburgers and french fries, all while taking in the view of Lake Okatibbee.
There are also chips and drinks even snowballs for the kids.
Tindell and Killebrew want the public to know that the restaurant is not just for people who own boats.
New look
The marina has undergone repairs after recent flooding that caused damage to the Lake Okatibbee area. Killebrew has been sprucing things up by planting new flowers and repaintings.
The two men even have plans to offer a special night dinner with a one-hour boat ride. They offer catering for large parties inside the restaurant or at the outdoor gazebo and picnic tables.
Killebrew added: "Our slogan is, If you can't go to the Coast, come to the Cove.'"
One might even be able to catch a glimpse of the marina's mascot, "Oscar the Alligator," moving in the water.
