The East Mississippi Business Development Corporation will host an Existing Business Summit at Howard Johnson's Convention Center in Meridian on Thursday.
The three-hour event begins at 10 a.m. and will highlight the state of manufacturing in East Mississippi, including incentives available for expanding industry.
Featured speakers at the event include state economist Phil Pepper, along with Bill Barry of the Mississippi Business Finance Corporation and Jay McCarthy of Mississippi Development Authority's Finance Division.
In addition, state Sen. Tommy Robertson, a member of the Conference Committee on Tort Reform and Jay Moon, president of the Mississippi Manufacturers Association will address issues related to the state of manufacturing.
The summit is one of three components in the EMBDC's effort to strengthen local industry. Coupled with an ongoing visitation program and industry roundtables, the EMBDC is working to improve the business environment and increase the role of technology in manufacturing throughout East Mississippi.
Area manufacturing representatives are invited to register for the summit by calling the EMBDC at (601) 693-1306.
