QUITMAN Services for Alma English Payne will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ken Walters and Kristen Booth officiating. Burial will be in Stonewall Cemetery.
Mrs. Payne, 91, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Southern Pines Personal Care Center in Pearl River County. She was born on March 2, 1912, in Souwilpa (Silas), Ala.
Meme, as she was known to many, grew up, worked, and lived in Clarke County until the age of 79, when she moved to be with her daughter and family in Pearl River County.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Easterling and her husband, Austin; a granddaughter, Kimberly Colleen Easterling; and a great-grandson, Jared Austin Easterling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer John Payne; her parents, five sisters and three brothers.
Visitation will be Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Graveside services for Virgie Faulkner Smith were held Monday at 3 p.m. at Central Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Dabbs officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Smith, 76, of Meridian, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at Riley Nursing Center. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and a retired seamstress for Troy Laundry and Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters, Janie Stewart and her husband, Tom, of McCall, Idaho, and Donna Carmichael and her husband, Videt, of Meridian; a brother, Teddy Faulkner and his wife, Lynn, of Meridian; a sister, Cleo Williamson and her husband, Johnny, of Indianola; grandchildren, Christopher Stewart and his wife, Tammy, Jon Stewart, Sean Stewart, Kaycee Crane and her husband, Charles, Fredie Carmichael and his wife, Sara, and Brandy Draughon and her fianc, Todd D'Antonio; and great-grandchildren, Landon Gibson and Jodee Crane.
She was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Richard Draughon; three brothers, Henry Owen Faulkner, Charles Faulkner and Billy Faulkner; and her parents, Charles Owen Faulkner and Retha Irene Webb Faulkner.
Arrangements were incomplete at Rabenhorst Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, La., for Kathleen M. Johnson, 94, of Baton Rouge, formerly of Meridian, who died Monday, June 9, 2003, in Baton Rouge.
Arrangements were incomplete at James F. Webb Funeral Home of Newton for Alice J. Ferguson, 60, of Hickory, who died Monday, June 9, 2003, at Heartfelt Hospice of Newton.
Arrangements were incomplete at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home for Floyd Anthony "Tony" Reese, 43, of Mayslanding, N.J., who died Sunday, June 1, 2003, in Atlantic City, N.J.
