CHOCTAW The Pearl River Resort in Choctaw officially introduces its two newest attractions today: the Hard Rock Beach Club and an 8-acre, man-made beach called Clearwater Key.
The two are near the resort's Geyser Falls Water Theme Park off Highway 16, on the eastern boundary of the Choctaw Indian reservation. The resort also includes two land-based casinos.
Phillip Martin, chief of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, will join other officials at today's 11 a.m. grand opening. Clearwater Key is accessible by anyone at Geyser Falls; Hard Rock Beach Club doesn't require a Geyser Falls admission.
The sand beach fronts an 8-acre shallow lake for swimming; beachgoers have access to beach chairs and umbrellas. The lush resort atmosphere is designed to appeal to all ages.
The beach can accommodate more than 2,500 guests at one time. Visitors also have access to the Rainbow Springs Hot Pool and can buy treats from My Tie Cafe or buy souvenirs from Castaway Kate's.
The Hard Rock Beach Club is scheduled to open to the public on Saturday.
Besides the usual menu, Hard Rock also will feature rock memorabilia, including a shirt worn by Grateful Dead front man Jerry Garcia, a feather boa worn by Janis Joplin and a white kimono worn by Madonna.
HEADING FOR THE BEACH
Admission to both Clearwater Key and Geyser Falls water park is $23.99 for adults, $16.99 for children under 48 inches and free for children under 3 years of age.
Geyser Falls season passes are $69.99 each for a block of four passes and $79.99 for a single pass.
Geyser Falls is open through Labor Day and can be rented for
company picnics after the season ends.
Cabanas are available for rent.
