Relay for Life Countdown

By Staff
Amy Jacob, foreground, Melanie Johnson, Mandy Hart and Susan Eaves were among a group of people who lighted candles Thursday in memory of people who have passed away because of cancer and in honor of those who have beaten the disease as team members prepare for Lauderdale County's Relay for Life.
The all-night walk-a-thon to benefit the American Cancer Society begins June 6, at 6 p.m., at Meridian High School's Ray Stadium. The first event is the Survivors' Reception.
Opening ceremonies are at 7 p.m., and the Luminaria Ceremony is at 10 p.m. To purchase a luminaria in memory of someone call Emily Fair at 483-3070.
