    Retired U.S. Army colonel
    NEWTON Services for Robert F. "Bob" Hindman will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Charles White officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
    Mr. Hindman, 68, of Decatur, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a retired Bird Colonel in the U.S. Army, where he served in the Green Beret Special Forces.
    He served several tours overseas with the U.S. Army and worked in the criminal investigation division with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion in Decatur and an Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow member.
    He received a political science degree from the University of New York. One of the biggest joys in his life was being a grandfather and great-grandfather, and serving the Lord.
    Survivors include his wife, Lillie Kate Hindman of Decatur; seven children, Robert Michael Hindman and his wife, Kathi, of Port Gibson, Cynthie Leigh Hindman of Kingsland, Ga., Kristi Michelle Cox and her husband, Ricky, of Forest, Wade Walters and his wife, Dolly, of Hattiesburg, Wayne Walters and his wife, Jennifer and Daron Walters and his wife, Suzanne, all of Madison. and Joel Walters of Bay St. Louis; a sister, Kathie Migliori and her husband, Sal, of Ellwood City, Pa.; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and a nephew, John Linville of Ellwood City.
    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Lou "Cindy" Hindman.
    Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post in Decatur.
    Pallbearers will be family members. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Stephon Hindman, Dr. Paul Varella and Dr. Archie Howard.
    Visitation will be Friday 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Retired seamstress
    Services for Vera L. Walker will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Long Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Meadows officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Walker, 83, of Vero Beach, Fla., formerly of Meridian, died Friday, May 23, 2003, in Vero Beach. She was a member of Long Creek Baptist Church and a retired seamstress for Burnley Shirt Company.
    Survivors include her sons, Arnold Walker of Vero Beach and Ray Walker of Columbia, Ga.; one grandson and one great-grandson.
    Retired licensed practical nurse
    Services for Helen Lott will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Elwood with the Rev. Ray Arrington officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in Desoto. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Lott, 66, of Quitman, died Friday, May 23, 2003, in her home.
    Survivors include her daughter, Malissa Ward of Milwaukee; a son, Allen Carl McQueen of Chicago; her mother, Malissa Speed of Quitman; sisters, Joyce Taylor of Quitman and Alice Mohler of Dallas; a brother, Carl Lott of Quitman; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her father, and a daughter.
    Visitation will be Friday 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
    JCG Railroad employee
    Services for Willie A. Moore will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church in Lauderdale with the Rev. Willie D. Burton officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Moore, 62, of Lauderdale, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, in his home.
    Survivors include his daughters, Jacqueline Bartee and Barbara Martin, both of Meridian, La Tasha Moore and La Toya Moore, both of Lauderdale, and Stacey "DD" Darden of Kemper County; sons, Johnny Moore, Brad Gowdy, Omar Gowdy and Ranaraldo Moore, all of Lauderdale, and Willie Gowdy of Meridian; a step-son, Allen Moore of Lauderdale; his mother, Annie Patterson of Boyd, Ala.; five sisters and one brother.
    Visitation will be Friday 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Homemaker
    Services for Sarah B. Smoot will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Emelle, Ala., with the Rev. H.C. Rush officiating. Burial will be in Jerusalem Cemetery. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Smoot, 97, of Meridian, died Sunday, May 25, 2003, at Riley Hospital.
    Survivors include her daughters, Lucille Alexander and Evelyn O'Toole, both of Meridian, Warnice Windham and her husband, Earl, of Chicago, Cora Lee Smoot of Buffalo, N.Y., Dorothy J. Fowler and her husband, Sandy, of Bellwood, Ill., and Mary E. Dawson and her husband, Johnny, of Rollingbrook, Ill.; a son, Prince Smoot Jr. and his wife, Geneva, of Chicago; 27 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
    Visitation will be Friday 7 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Arrangements were incomplete at Stephens Memorial Chapel in DeKalb for William M. Rowe Jr., 75, of DeKalb, who died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, in his home.
    Arrangements were incomplete at Stephens Funeral Home in Union for Modene Luke, 79, of Union, who died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at Laird Hospital in Union.
    Arrangements were incomplete at James F. Webb Funeral Home for Owen C. Reynolds, 82, of Meridian, who died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at Riley Hospital.
