Services for Dorothy Matthews were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jeff Hancock and Jim Williams officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn cemetery.
Mrs. Matthews, 80, of Meridian, died Friday, May 23, 2003, in Meridian. She was a member of First Church of God.
Survivors include three sisters, Marie Phillips and her husband, Roy of Fort Smith, Ark., Adelle Marler of Vicksburg; and Joyce Nunnery of Alvin, Texas; a brother, Richard King of Oklahoma; a sister-in-law, Blanche Cheek of California; four god-children, LeAnna Baldner, Logan Satterfield, Olivia Satterfield and Majestic C. Scott; and 22 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.G. Matthews; her parents, Roy and Ruby King; a sister, Edith Marie King; and two brothers, Billy Ray King and Roy King, Jr.
Services for J.D. Stokes will be held today at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hayes Chapel, with the Rev. John Branning officiating. Burial will be in Coy Methodist Cemetery in Neshoba County.
Mr. Stokes, 91, of Louisville died Friday, May 23, 2003 at Winston Medical Center.
Survivors include his son, Charles Stokes of Louisville; two sisters, Bernice Frazier of Old Hickory, Tenn. and Bonnie Ray of Chattanooga, Tenn.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda.
BUTLER, Ala. Services for Julian A. Watters III will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Harris and Dr. Keith Aldridge officiating. Burial will be Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Watters, 73, of Butler, died Friday, May 23, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy McBride Watters of Butler; two daughters, Patricia W. Ezell and her husband, Mark of Lavaca and Debra W. Jackson of Butler; a son, Allen Grimes Watters, II, of Butler; five grandchildren, Rainer Watters Ezell, Bradley Harden Ezell, Patricia duMont Ezell, K. Darryl Jackson, Jr and his wife, Suzanne and Eric Watters Jackson and his wife, Michelle; and three great-grandchildren, K. Darryl Jackson, III, Madelyn Louise Jackson and John Watters Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian A. Watters, Jr. and Madelyn Pritchett Watteres Clay; a son, Julian A. Watters, IV and a granddaughter, Virginia Elizabeth Jackson.
Pallbearers will be Darryl Jackson, Jr., Rainer W. Ezell, Eric W. Jackson, Bradley H. Ezell, Kent Sparrow and Nathan Aldridge.
Memorials may be made to Patrician Academy, Atrium Fund, 901 South Mulberry Ave., Butler, AL 36904; University of Alabama, Watters Family Scholarship, care of Carolyn Rogers, P.O. Box 870109, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487-0109; or the Auburn University Forestry Dept., 100 M. White Smith Hall, Auburn, AL 36849-5418.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Graveside services for Frances Delores Neal Southern will be held today at 2 p.m. at New Bethel Cemetery, with the Rev. Jerry Jackson officiating.
Mrs. Southern, 72, of Quitman, died Friday, May 23, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include two sons, Danny Lee Southern and his wife, Myra of Stonewall and Jessie Bewoit Southern of Marianna, Fla.; her mother, Gladys Neal of Quitman; a brother, James Neal of Gila Bend, Ariz.; and five sisters, Inez Rhodes and Valerie Smith, both of Meridian, Imelda Powell of Energy, Janice Guinn of Northport, Ala. and Ala Ruby Moore of Monroe, La.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Neal.
Graveside services for William H. Greene will be held will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Greene, 92, of Dyersburg, Tenn., formerly of Meridian, died Saturday, May 24, 2003 at Dyersburg Hospital.
Arrangements were incomplete at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home for Helen R. Lott, 66, of Quitman, who died Friday, May 23, 2003 at her residence.
Arrangements were incomplete at Barham Funeral Home for Sara Nell Wilson of Meridian, who died Saturday, May 24, 2003.
Arrangements were incomplete at E.E. McDonald Funeral Home for Helen Bolden, 43, of DeKalb, who died Saturday, May 24, 2003 at her home.
