Retired nurse
Services for Lucille Eddins Merrell will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Jones Chapel Church of God Cemetery.
Mrs. Merrell, 81, formerly of Meridian, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, in Jackson. She was a retired nurse from Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center and Mattie Hersee Hospital. She was a member of Wesley Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her sons, James Kenneth Merrell Jr. of Meridian and Gary W. Merrell of Melbourne, Fla.; a daughter, Sandra Merrell Peninger of Pearl; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Retired Maywebb Hosiery Mill employee
Services for Maggie E. White will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Wyatt Harvey and Kevin Jones officiating. Burial will be in Old Marion Cemetery.
Mrs. White, 75, of Meridian, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Eighth Street Avenue Baptist Church and attended State Boulevard Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Stamper and Clara Pierce and her husband, Jerry, all of Meridian; four grandchildren, Debra Harrison and her husband, Jim, of Suqualena, Michael Godwin and his wife, Honey, Chris Godwin and his wife, Vickie, all of Collinsville, and Kim Vandeford and her husband, Curt, of Atlanta; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Linda Fairchild of Meridian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie White; and a grandson, Jeffery Stamper.
Pallbearers will be Steve Landrum, Bobby Blackwell, Gerald Keen, Curt Vandeford, Eddie Boswell and Thomas Stamper.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services for Edna Earle Hoffer Hoppus will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Hoppus, 86, of Pearl, died Sunday, May 18, 2003.
Survivors include her daughter, Martha Hoppus Lawrence and her husband, Jimmy; and two granddaughters, Vickie Lawrence and Stefanie Lawrence and her husband, Allen.
Visitation will be Thursday 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Service for Roy Hellen will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at E.E. McDonald Funeral Home Community Chapel in Meridian with the Rev. Chad Hearns officiating. Burial will be West Mt. Mariah Cemetery. E.E. McDonald Funeral Home of DeKalb is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hellen, 73, of Meridian, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, at Riley Hospital.
Survivors include a brother, Ernest Hellen; and a son, Roy Hellen Jr.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Mae Hellen; and his father, Simon Hellen.
Visitation will be Wednesday 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the E.E. McDonald Community Chapel.
Retired from East Mississippi State Hospital
Services for Corine Hersey will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Luke Baptist Church with the Rev. L.C. Thedford officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hersey, 64, of Meridian, died Friday, May 16, 2003, in her home.
Survivors include her daughter, Julia Allen of Meridian; a son, Charles Moss of Riderwood, Ala.; sisters, Lorene Hersey and Catherine Thomas, both of Meridian; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be Thursday 7 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Homemaker
Memorial services for Mary K. "Mamie" Carver will be held at a later date in Mobile, Ala. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Carver, 82, of Lauderdale, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Survivors include her children, Sally Gregory and her husband, Bill, Jacqueline Gough and her husband, Mickey, all of Lauderdale, David Carver and his wife, Ann, of Pensacola, Fla., and Katherine Carver Johnson of Newton; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Carver.
Joe Lee Shirley, 80, died March 15, 2003. At his request, his remains were cremated and his ashes were placed at the grave site of his wife, Betty Massey Goodwin Shirley.
