The Meridian Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce its 43rd season, "The Sound of Art."
Organizers of the upcoming season said it promises to have something for everyone, beginning with the Cellular South Pops Concert on July 4 at Bonita Lakes.
This concert will feature the orchestra playing patriotic music while a spectacular fireworks display explodes overhead.
Conductor Claire Fox Hillard will work closely with Samuel Jones, the Music Alive composer-in-residence, to offer educational programs in conjunction with concerts.
All concerts will be at 8 p.m. in the McCain Theater on the Meridian Community College Campus unless otherwise noted.
Here is the 2003-2004 season schedule:
Sept. 6: "Walter Anderson Centennial Concert" featuring Stanislav Loudenitch, Van Cliburn gold medalist, on piano, performing "Clark: A Sensation of Music."
Nov. 1: "Colors of Sound" featuring Patrice Jackson, Sphinx Competition winner on violoncello. Jones also will be featured.
Feb. 21, 2004: "The King of Instruments" special performance in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Meridian. David Benson will be featured on their Shantz organ.
April 3, 2004: "The Temptation of Jesus" will feature the MCC Community Chorus and the Meridian Children's Chorus. Samuel Jones, Music Alive composer-in-residence also featured.
