People who want to eliminate or reduce telephone calls they receive from telemarketers could soon see some relief.
A new law passed by the Mississippi Legislature could reduce the number of telemarketing calls by letting residents place their name on a "no call list" which will be available starting July 1.
Officials with the Mississippi Public Service Commission will be in Meridian for a town meeting at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday to help educate residents about the law.
Cochran represents the Central District, including Meridian and Lauderdale County, on the three-member Public Service Commission. He plans to attend the Wednesday town meeting.
The meeting at the downtown police station is open to everyone.
Cochran said he is encouraging anyone who can to attend, "since we will be available for questions regarding telemarketers."
