What started out as a slugfest between Northeast Jones and Northeast Lauderdale turned into a pitcher's duel.
After each team scored 10 runs in the first four innings, it took a sacrifice fly in the tenth inning from Jason Ford to give Northeast Jones the final run of the game and a 11-10 victory.
Alan Walters four and two-thirds innings and held the Trojans scoreless and Fred Fulton held the Tigers with solid pitching before giving up one run in the tenth inning.
The Tigers jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. Eric Windham hit a two-run homer to give Northeast Jones the lead.
Northeast Lauderdale answered with a three-run first inning. Drew Anderson had a single and Jacob Garrett had a double in the rally. Northeast also took advantage of a Northeast Jones error to score and make the score 3-2.
The Tigers tied the game in the second inning with a home run from Justin Emmons.
Northeast Lauderdale took back the lead with a four-run second inning led by a three-run homer by Anderson.
Northeast Jones scored five runs in the third inning on errors and another home run by Emmons.
Jason Pritchett and Chad Brunson each had big singles in the third inning to give Northeast Lauderdale the lead back at 9-8.
The Tigers took advantage of errors and walks to scored two runs in the fourth inning, but Anderson hit another home run to tie the game 10-10 in the bottom of the fourth.
From there, it was a pitching duel as each team had opportunities to score but came up short.
Northeast Lauderdale stranded seven runners during the final six innings and Northeast Jones stranded six.
The Tigers finally scored as Adam Parker singled to start the tenth and scored later in the inning on a fly out by Ford.
The Trojans got two runners on base in the bottom of the inning, but Northeast Jones came away with a ground out to take the victory.
The win moves Northeast Jones to 10-6 and 6-2 in district play for the season. The Tigers will host West Jones in a full district game and also in a previously shortened game.
The Trojans drop to 9-12 and 3-6. They will host Florence today.
