Services for Myrtis J. Alexander were to be held today at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Chaney officiating. Burial was to be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Alexander, 78, of Meridian, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Riley Hospital.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy L. Braswell of Meridian and Vicky L. McQuiston and her husband, Pat, of New Market, Ala.; sons, Bob Alexander and his wife, Patty, of Olive Branch and Roger N. Alexander and his wife, Marilyn, of Temple, Texas; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a sister, Velma Smith of Noxapater; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleo Alexander.
PHILADELPHIA Services for Flynn Dobbs will be held today at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Beam officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery with McClain-Hays Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Dobbs, 85, of Philadelphia, died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a retired secretary for Philadelphia Public School System. She was born and raised in New Albany and had made her home in Philadelphia since 1940. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Philadelphia where she served as pianist for more than 60 years.
Survivors include her daughters, Laura Bryan of Philadelphia and Betty Bond of Louisville; granddaughters, Lee Adams of Hermanville and Melanie Alford of Birmingham, Ala.; and a great-grandson, Will Adams of Hermanville.
Pallbearers will be Bill Yates, William Yates, Bill Hand, Bob Hand, Joe Jordan, Marvin Blanks, Jimmy Prince and Jim Prince.
Mr. Wilkins, 53, of Meridian died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was an assistant to the pharmacist at East Mississippi State Hospital.
Survivors include his daughter, Cassandra Cottingham and her husband, Michael, a son, Tommy Dewayne Wilkins and a sister, Patricia A. Jones, all of Meridian.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Reba J. Wilkins; and a sister, Reba C. Stephens.
Visitation will be today 1 p.m.-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
PHILADELPHIA Services for Earline O'Berry will be held today at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Charles Barnett officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia.
Mrs. O'Berry, 74, of Philadelphia, died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at Hilltop Manor in Union.
Survivors include her husband, George Andrew O'Berry of Philadelphia; sons, Donald Glenn O'Berry of Houston, Texas, Willis Dale O'Berry and Burton Edward O'Berry, both of Philadelphia; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
NEWTON Services for Dr. Silas Homer Hindman will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Newton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Curtis Cain officiating. Burial will be in the Newton Masonic Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dr. Hindman, 89, of Newton, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was a retired dentist with Hindman Dental Clinic.
He was born in Hawkins, Texas, and moved to Louin in 1916. He graduated from the University of Tennessee Dental School in Memphis and practiced dentistry in Louisville from 1938-1948, and in Newton from 1948-1972.
Dr. Hindman was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in World War II from 1942-1945. He was active in Newton United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school and was a member of the Gideon's International.
Survivors include his sons, Stan Hindman and his wife, Anna, of Oakland, Calif., and Dr. Steve Hindman and his wife, Madalyn, of Jackson; a brother, Billy Hindman of Lake Jackson, Texas; five grandchildren, Kate Parks and her husband, Dave, of Fairbanks, Alaska, Cy Hindman and Mattie Hindman, both of Oakland, Doug Hindman and his wife, Dusty, of Jackson and Tracy Hindman of Denver.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Belle Chatham Hindman; and his parents, Silas and Mittie Creech Hindman.
Memorials may be made to the Gideon's International, P.O. Box 1918, Ridgeland, MS 39158.
Pallbearers will be Van Lucas, Charles Vance, Rusty McMillan, Bill Freeman, Douglas Hindman and Doug Cunningham.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Thompson, Bill Barnett, Bill Thames, Jack Weaver and Dan Henry.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services for Theodre Alexander will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Latimer Metropolitan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rodrick Smith officiating. Burial will be in New Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Alexander, 104, of Meridian, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include his sons, Albert Lewis, Clifton Lewis, Otis Lewis and James Boyd, all of Meridian, and Lorenzo Boyd of Chicago; daughters, Mildred Matlock of Las Vegas and Linda Hearn of Meridian; eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
