Meridian police arrest car jacking suspect

The Meridian Police Department arrested a suspect in a carjacking Monday night shortly after the incident happened.
Detective Deano Harper of the Meridian Police Department said a black man forced his way into the driver's seat of a woman's vehicle while she was stopped at the traffic light at the intersection of Highway 19 North and Fifth Street.
The incident happened at 11:49 p.m.
Harper said the suspect drove away with the woman still in her vehicle, but was stopped by police within one minute and taken into custody.
Harper said charges are pending and the suspect's name has not yet been released.
