Prep hoops makes New Year's return

Tournaments at Enterprise and Forest highlight this week's basketball action.
Six schools will be competing at Enterprise with three in each of two pools. The first two days will feature pool games with Saturday's games pairings teams according to their finish in pool play.
Play begins today at Enterprise with six games on tap. At noon, the Enterprise girls face Stringer, while the same boys' teams square off at 1:30 p.m. At 3, the Southeast Lauderdale girls play Scott Central, 7-8, with the Tigers taking on the Rebels, 7-7, in boys' action at 4:30.
Enterprise returns to action at 6 with the Lady Bulldogs taking on Clarkdale, 7-7. The boys' teams from Enterprise and Clarkdale, 4-10, will battle at 7:30.
On Friday, the Long Beach girls play Scott Central at noon with those same schools locking up in a boys' contest at 1:30 p.m.
At 3, the Clarkdale girls meet Stringer with those boys' teams playing at 4:30. Long Beach's girls take on Southeast at 6 with the same boys' teams squaring off at 7:30.
On Saturday, the No. 3 finishers in each pool will meet in a girls' game at noon and a boys' contest at 1:30. The No. 2 teams will tangle at 3 and 4:30 with the pool champions to square off at 6 and 7:30.
At Forest, today's Central Mississippi Classic games have Forest, 4-10, hosting Carthage, 1-12, in a girls' game at 4 p.m. At 5:30, the 8-5 Forest boys take on Carthage, 2-11. At 7, the 14-0 Choctaw Central Lady Warriors clash with Pearl with the Warriors, 10-3, taking on the Pearl boys at 8:30.
On Friday, the Newton Lady Tigers play the Forest-Carthage winner at 4 p.m. with the Newton boys taking on the Forest-Carthage winner at 5:30.
At 7, the Morton girls draw the Choctaw Central-Pearl winner with the Morton boys playing the Choctaw Central-Pearl winner at 8:30.
On Saturday, consolation games are slated for 1 p.m., 2:30, 4, and 5:30 with the championship contests slated for 7 and 8:30.
Kemper County will be participating in the East Oktibbeha Tournament, today-Saturday.
Patrician Academy plays in the Sparta Invitational at Evergreen, Ala., Friday-Saturday.
Wayne County will be playing in a tournament at Northeast Jones, today-Saturday. The War Eagles, 8-1, are fresh off winning a boys' tournament at Biloxi last week.
In other games, Choctaw County (Ala.) travels to Jackson (Ala.) on Friday and to Linden (Ala.) on Saturday.
Heidelberg Academy hosts Jackson Prep Friday at 2 p.m. in girls' action with the boys' contest to follow.
Kemper Academy hosts Starkville Academy at 5 p.m. on Friday and Oak Hill on Saturday.
Leake Academy travels to Sharkey-Issaquena on Friday before hosting Heritage Academy on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Nanih Waiya visits Ethel on Friday.
Noxubee County goes to Columbus on Friday.
