AmSouth Bank has sold its main office building at 406 22nd Ave., to Missouth Development Co., but there are no plans for the bank to move.
The sale of the building closed Friday and the bank has entered into a long-term lease agreement with Missouth to lease the ground floor of the building.
Tal Braddock, president of AmSouth in Meridian, said bank customers shouldn't notice any difference in its operation.
He said the bank no longer needed the upper two floors of the three-story building.
Gil Carmichael, head of family-owned Missouth Development, said he is pleased with its investment in the property.
Headquartered in Birmingham, Ala., AmSouth Bancorporation has more than 600 branch banking offices in Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida, Louisiana and Georgia. A purchase price was not disclosed.
