Retired bookkeeper for WMOX
JACKSON, Ala. Services for Ruth Gaines Osteen will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Latham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Hure officiating. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery in Jackson, Ala.
Mrs. Osteen, 95, of Jackson, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Jackson Health Care Facility. She was a native of Decatur and a member of Central United Methodist Church in Meridian. She was a retired mechanic from Vanity Fair Mills and a bookkeeper for WMOX radio for more than 30 years.
Survivors include her son, Herbert Eugene Osteen of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Adair Griffin of Jackson, Ala.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday 9:30 a.m. -11 a.m. at the funeral home.

QUITMAN Services for Hattie B. Overby will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Overby officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Clarke County.
Mrs. Overby, 102, of Quitman, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Lakeside Living Center in Quitman.
Survivors include her sons, Ernest Overby of Enterprise, Ray Overby and his wife, Martha, of Lucedale, Leonard Overby and his wife, Sue, of Moss Point, Roy Overby and his wife, Ann, of Escatawpa, Dean Overby and his wife, Vashti, of Meridian and Kenneth Overby and his wife, Betty, of Lanett, Ala.; daughters, Ruth Siler of Pascagoula, Christine Robinson and her husband, H.W., of Mobile, Ala., and Sybil Ivaldi and her husband, Ernie, of El Dorado, Calif.; 30 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, Early E. Overby.
Visitation will be today beginning at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Walter Carl Elliott will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Savannah Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. William J. Harper officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Elliott, of Meridian, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at Neshoba Central Health Center.
Survivors include his sisters, Barbara Elliott of Meridian and Dora Douglas and her husband, Harold, of Huber Heights, Ohio; a brother, Leo Elliott and his wife, Dorothy, of Meridian; a sister-in-law Juarez Elliott of Meridian; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
BOBBY RAY GREEN

COLUMBUS Services for Bobby Ray Green will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Gunter and Peel Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Michael Summers and David Westmoreland officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Columbus.
Mr. Green, 59, of Columbus, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born March 23, 1943, in Louisville to the late Raymond W. and Elinor Bradley Green. He moved to Columbus in 1952 where he graduated from Lee High School and attended East Mississippi Community College.
Mr. Green was a sales representative for Kar Products and a member of the West Point Big Buck Hunting Club. He was a member of Ethelsville Baptist Church where he served as an ordained deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda E. Green of Columbus; a niece, Jessica Goodman; a sister, Mary Louis of San Antonio, Texas; four nieces, five nephews, one great-niece and two great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Leo Miller, Randy Rigdon, Wayne West, Joey McCullough, Lu McCrary, Jay McCrary, David Gray and Allen Morton.
Visitation will be today 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
